It usually takes between 3 months to 18 months to complete a career technical education program. Since this education is shorter than most traditional college and university degree programs, you can use these options to start on your career path sooner. If you would like to receive credit for your career technical training when you transfer to a college or university degree program, make sure you meet with an admissions officer or academic advisor. Different colleges and universities have varying policies on awarding credit for career-technical training and workforce certificates. In 1944 the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto Faculty of Forestry entered into a partnership to educate government personnel and university students. For many years the site was known as the Ranger School and later, the Ontario Forest Technical Training School. Many courses were taught to government personnel. Students from various faculties at the University came to the school each year on field trips.
In 1969, the schools curriculum of resource management was taken over by Ontarios colleges and universities. That was the first time the future of the property that would become the Frost Centre, was in doubt. In 1974, Ontario Premiere William G. Davis announced that the facility would be developed as a demonstration area in resources management, education and recreation and would be called The Leslie M. Frost Natural Resources Centre. The Centre became the first outdoor education Centre in the province dedicated to environmental and resource management education. It was also the first Centre to have a large crown land management unit , associated with it for research in and demonstration of resource management, recreation and public education.

Area 31 students attend career preparation classes for half-day either morning or afternoon everyday. The other half of the day is spent at your home high school.

Wayne County Career Center

The Wayne County Schools Career Center was completed in a 6-phase, 3-year construction renovation and addition with co-funding dollars from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The total renovations and additions encompassed 185,000 sf of the existing Career Center building, as well as the renovation of the 5,500 sf “Old School House” Restaurant and Bakery Kitchen into an Administration / Board of Education Building. Through creative planning, a newly-renovated 7,600 sf Adult Education Center was constructed as swing space for academic classrooms/career tech labs during the 3 year renovation and addition.

Given the unique content in each of our courses and the hands on nature of Career Technical Education, many of our instructors implement end of semester projects. Some courses may implement both a project and a written examination. Projects and exams may have due dates prior to vacation to ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete all assessed tasks. Please be cognizant of due dates.
