Polaris Career Center Has Wait List After Programs Fill For Fall

Superintendent Bob Timmons and Assistant Superintendent Mike Sheppard recently spoke to cleveland.com about the enrollment milestone.
Ive been here 22 years, and weve never, ever been completely full, Timmons said. By being a school of choice, we are totally dependent upon what we do and the quality of what we offer.
The adult learning programs also are in high demand. He noted that service industry jobs suffered great losses during the past two years because of COVID-19, resulting in employees pursuing other careers.
I think the pandemic made people realize that you need to have some other skills to fall back on, Timmons explained. People want to be trained in something different. They see more opportunity for career advancement and a higher pay range.
Sheppard said local companies have a steady need, in every field and every trade, for skills Polaris students acquire.
We used to always have to reach out to find these opportunities for our students, Sheppard said. Now the corporations are reaching out to us, partnering with us, to fulfill the needs they have, while helping our kids transition into the workplace.
Every program we have is a college career track, he emphasized. And kids have choices to make when they leave here.
Enrollment Coordinator Cindy Crisler called the enrollment numbers very exciting.
