The Certified Nursing Assistant program at DRM International Learning Centers prepares students for a career in healthcare in just two weeks. The curriculum features 92 hours of lectures, lab practical, and clinical instruction. Students will spend 34 hours in the classroom, 34 hours in the skills lab, and 24 hours of supervised patient care experiences in a long-term care facility. Training will cover topics such as patients rights and independence, infection control, mental health and social services, care of the cognitively impaired, personal care skills, basic nursing skills, observation and reporting, and communication skills.

The CNA course will prepare students to take the state of Michigan Certified Nurse Aide Examination. This is a certification required by most healthcare employers. Students will learn basic patient care skills and apply them in lab and clinical settings.

Instructors for the course are Cheryl Cooper, Rainia Roytek, Kelly Sanders and Jeanne Armstrong. All the instructors are registered nurses

The cost of the program is $880. For students who attend from outside the county, the cost is $1250 per semester. The tuition costs are reimbursable from the state for students who are employed in a Medicare funded facility within one year of completing the training.

To be eligible for the clinical portion of the training, applicants need to have a TB test in the last one year, a flu shot , immunizations and clear a criminal background check. Scrubs and a box of gloves is also required to be purchased if admitted into the program. Additional state exam fee is $125 payable to Prometric.

Job Corps is a free education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor for individuals aged 16-24. Turner Job Corps Centers role is to support the mission of Job Corps to help young individuals become employable and independent. It is the fourth largest Job Corps center nationwide.

The Center has a 128-acre campus and is a short drive from downtown Albany, Georgia.

The faculties include dormitory, cafeteria, a center store and a wellness center. All textbooks, supplies, uniform and clinical equipment will be provided free of cost. After 30 to 90 days of the program, students are eligible to receive a clothing allowance of $100. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snacks are served on weekdays at the cafeteria. Brunch and dinner are served on weekends and holidays. Free basic medical services are provided at the wellness center.

In the CNA program, students are trained to- care for patients and help with daily activities like bathing, feeding and dressing perform basic nursing responsibilities like recording vital signs and ambulating patients control infections understand and follow safety and emergency procedures and care for patients with Dementia and Alzheimers disease.

Graduates work full time in hospitals and long-term care facilities like nursing homes. Schedules can include night shifts, weekends and holidays.

The Cna Test In Michigan

The Certified Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Program in Michigan is administered by Prometric, a nationwide private testing company. You must take the CNA exam at an . However, there are exceptions made if you are already employed by a nursing home and want to take the exam at work. The nursing home would need to submit an in-facility request to Prometric and there must be a minimum of 4 candidates testing. Arrive at your test at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow enough time to sign in and have the staff review the required documents you must bring to the test site. Bring only the required materials into the testing site. You cannot bring in any study materials, purses, backpacks, cell phones, etc.

The exam consists of 2 parts – a Knowledge Test and a Clinical Skills Test.

The Knowledge portion is made up of 60 multiple-choice questions on a computer. Basic computer skills are fine and you can ask the test administrator if you have any questions on how to use the computer before testing. Youll have 90 minutes to complete this knowledge section and the questions will consist of Nurse Aide responsibilities, safety, and patient care.
