Washington, D.C. – Today Hiring Our Heroes announced a new initiative in collaboration with . The new program, Career Forward, will provide in-demand training for tech jobs to 8,000 veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses through . It will also provide wraparound support to help participants access jobs and career resources.
Google.org is proud to support Hiring Our Heroes to train veterans for in-demand jobs through their new Career Forward program, said Jacquelline Fuller, President, Google.org. Our hope is that increased access to portable career credentials along with the right wraparound support will help veterans, military service members and their families reach their full economic potential.”
The 200,000 military service members who leave active duty each year often face unemployment challenges when entering the civilian job market64% of veterans lack a college degree and nearly 8 in 10 service members leave active duty without job prospects. The Career Forward program aims to bridge veteran employment gaps through the Google Career Certificates, online programs on Coursera that equip learners with job-ready skills for in-demand fields within 3-6 months.

- Qualified candidates will be contacted within approximately 2 to 3 weeks for a telephone interview
- A successful candidate will be invited for a face to face interview
- If you are not selected for interview, you will receive an email stating that we will not be moving forward with your application. We will keep your resume on file to up to 6 months. We encourage you to keep your profile and your job agent/alert up to date.

Career Forward Fellowship Program And Training Track
The Career Forward program is a new program specifically made to train in Google Career Certificates. The certificate fields have in-demand jobs, making it ideal for those transitioning out of military service. Those enrolled in the Google Career Certificate program enroll in a certificate of choice. The certificates are in data analytics, IT support, project management, or user experience design. The programs are self-paced, and can usually be completed part-time in a period of three to six months. The program comes with the support of Hiring Our Heroes staff and others enrolled in the program. The network is invaluable, especially alongside the certificate program. At the end of the program, the Hiring Our Heroes program aids with resume writing, job searching, and interview preparation. The entire program is virtual and can be completed when living overseas, if returning to the states within one year.
Life outside the military can feel foreign, especially for those who have had a career within the military spanning decades. Hiring Our Heroes recognizes this and has tools to provide a transition into a career of interest.

Resources For Military Spouses At Hoh
HOH has two primary initiatives specifically for military spouses:
- Military Spouse Professional Network: The MSPN provides military spouses with career development and networking opportunities in more than 55 military communities across the globe. The network gives the spouses access to local business leaders, peers, mentors, and support.
- AMPLIFY: AMPLIFY is a 2-day event that leads a cohort of military spouses through intensive career preparation, professional development, and networking. Event attendees walk away with a polished resume, professional photo, , and a professional network for a lifetime.

Veterans And Military Spouses Have Access To Free Tech Training Through A New Career Program
A new program plans to give veterans and military spouses interested in the tech industry free education, paid fellowships at one of 400 employers nationwide, and access to a network of employers looking to hire.
Announced Tuesday via a webinar, the program, known as Career Forward, is operated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes and funded through a $10 million grant from Google. The funding pays for 8,000 participants to use the program.
Participants will move through a three-step career process. First, they will earn Google career certificates via an online education platform, Coursera. After finishing the certificate program, which takes between three and six months, they can be placed in a 12-week paid fellowship in one of the Hiring Our Heroes network companies. Finally, once they’ve completed the certification and fellowship, they can access Google’s employer consortium, which considers program graduates for related job openings.
“We know that a traditional four-year degree is not for everyone, or the only pathway to career success,” Eric Eversole, the president of Hiring Our Heroes, said during the announcement event. “Credentials, such as career certificates, send a clear message to employers that a candidate has the skills, drive and commitment to succeed in any role.”
