New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program Overview

Medical assistants play an essential role on a patients care team. This program, in partnership with The Genesis Center or Rhode Island College, provides students with practical work experience and networking opportunities, work-readiness training and workshops, classroom and internship training, and more. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the National CCMA exam.

The Parks Department is hiring now for outdoors maintenance positions! The jobs are 40 hours per week and pay $15.45 per hour. The job duties include: sweeping, raking, picking up litter, and emptying trash receptacles.

The job is five days a week, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Four of those days are during the week and one day a week is on the weekend. One of those days will be a paid day to look for a permanent job by the time your Parks job ends.

    The field of behavioral health features a variety of professions, each offering several career paths at both Bradley Hospital and Gateway.     Some of these WIA programs are age specific as well. So the Senior Community Service Employment can help residents accomplish this goal. Many of the positions available may even be part time.

    Help For Careers And Training From The State Of New York

    Transitional Employment Assistance Program, or TEAP, is a form of On-the-Job Training. A number of companies participate. It was created in an effort to offset the cost of hiring and training a new employee. Qualified employers may be reimbursed up to 50% of the new hires wages for up three months. Another grant is for Transitional Jobs. This will help ensure all applicants are well trained and qualified for the job in question.

    Veterans are a focus. New York is proud to offer Priority of Service to veterans and their eligible spouses. Residents that have served in the military will be served first by the next available staff member or career counselor. In addition, they will get first priority when it comes to applying for open jobs and any training for which they are eligible and qualified for.

    Other services provided by Local Veterans’ Employment Representatives include the following. Sign up for skills assessment and explore training options.     Nursing Assistant Training Program

    Being a Nursing Assistant is a rewarding health care position with a range of job opportunities in a variety of work settings and patient populations. Each cohort of students will participate in classroom training with partnering institutions, hands-on experience at a Lifespan hospital, clinical rotations, and a four-week unpaid internship. Participants will achieve their AHA Basic Life Support certification and, after successfully completing the program, the possibility of full-time employment.

    The next cohort start date will be Monday, January 9.
