The Career and Technical Education certificate is a classroom teaching certificate that authorizes individuals to teach a specific career and technical education subject area in grades 7-12 in a New York State public school or BOCES. CTE courses and programs are designed to prepare high school students to enter occupational fields such as dental assisting, plumbing, electrical, cosmetology, culinary, and vehicle maintenance. CTE certificate requirements place an emphasis on occupational work experience and related education in the subject area of the certificate, providing certificate holders with the expertise needed to teach a specific trade or technical field to students.

Industry Credential Submission Form
The Virginia Department of Education evaluates industry credentials on an on-going basis against prescribed criteria for graduation requirements for the Standard Diploma 8VAC20-131-51.B and verified credit . Credentials that meet the criteria are presented to the Virginia Board of Education annually for approval. The 2018 Virginia General Assembly House Bill 442, directed the Department of Education to develop, maintain, and make available to each local school board a catalogue of the testing accommodations available to English learners for each certification, examination, assessment, and battery that satisfies the career and technical education credential graduation requirement. The bill requires each local school board to develop and implement policies to require each high school principal or his designee to notify each English learner of the availability of such testing accommodations prior to the student’s participation in any such certification, examination, assessment, or battery.
Career And Technical Certification
The Pennsylvania Department of Education will issue Career and Technical Instructional Certificates to persons whose primary responsibility is teaching occupational skills in State approved career and technical education programs in the public schools of the Commonwealth.
Career and Technical Intern Certificate IMPORTANT: Career and Technical Instructional I certificates issued on or after July 13, 2016 will be valid for eight years of service. Career and Technical Instructional I certificates issued prior to July 13, 2016 that had six years of validity and that are valid on July 13, 2016, will have a total of eight years of validity. Career and Technical Instructional I certificates issued prior to July 13, 2016 that had seven years of validity and that are valid on July 13, 2016, will receive an additional one school term/year of valid service.

How Credentials Work For Graduation Requirements Verified Credit And Awards For Exemplary Student Performance
The board annually reviews and approves industry, professional or trade association certification examinations, and occupational competency assessments, and professional licenses that will meet the verified credit requirements as well as to earn the boards Career and Technical Education seal and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math seal. Initial Trade And Industrial Education
To obtain a Trade and Industrial Education certificate you must meet the following requirements:
- Have two to five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years
- Hold current licensure, certification, or registration by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency in any approved occupations for the classes you will be teaching
- Pass the appropriate National Occupational Competency Testing Institute assessment if licensure, certification, or registration is not based on a recognized test or measurement
- Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian licensure and wage-earning experience your educator preparation program will review for eligibility.

National Board For Professional Teaching Standards Certification
Teachers who are certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in the area of Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/Career and Technical Education will be issued a Clear Designated Subjects Teaching Credential in their selected subject area. Individuals applying under this route are exempt from all other credential requirements.

Designated Subjects CTE credentials are issued under the name of the appropriate California Industry Sector, and teachers are authorized to teach courses within that sector. The 15 California Industry Sectors are:

Cte Teacher Industry Credentials For Initial Licensure
Section § 22.1-298.1 of the Code of Virginia requires that every teacher seeking an initial license in the Commonwealth with an endorsement in the area of career and technical education shall have an industry certification credential in the area in which the teacher seeks endorsement. If a teacher seeking an initial license in the Commonwealth has not attained an industry certification credential in the area in which the teacher seeks endorsement, the Board may, upon request of the employing school division or educational agency, issue the teacher a provisional license to allow time for the teacher to attain such credential.

What Is Career Technical Education

Career Technical Education is one of the fastest-growing areas of education. Sometimes known as Vocational Education, these courses prepare students, from middle school to adult, for specific trades in 15 industry sectors. Teachers pursuing a CTE credential come directly from those industry areas. They teach students the academic and technical content that provides them with the knowledge and skills to enter an occupation, or continue on to college.

This certificate plan is designed to meet your needs if you are completing professional knowledge courses for a CTE certificate or for professional advancement. The Department of Educational Specialties offers this graduate certificate plan, which is designed to meet your needs if you are completing professional knowledge courses for a CTE certificate or for professional advancement. University RequirementsGraduate certificate programs require a minimum of 12 credit hours. Many certificate programs require more than 12 credit hours. No more than one 400-level NAU course may be used on a certificate program. No more than 25% of the units required for the certificate program may be transferred from another university. A 400-level course completed at another university is not eligible for transfer credit. A minimum grade point average of 3. 0 must be achieved to obtain a graduate certificate. No more than three units of coursework with a grade of C may be used in a certificate program.
Career And Technical Education
The Texas Education Agency issues nine Career and Technical Education certificates. Trades and Industrial Education, Health Science Technology Education, and Marketing Education certificates require work experience. For initial certification, you must meet the requirements for becoming a classroom teacher in Texas.

Plan 2 Business & Industry Requirements
One year of occupational industry experience in the subject area other than teaching in the past 10 years. If all or part of the 2,000 hours is more than 10 years old, candidates must complete an additional 300 hours of recent occupational experience, which can be volunteer hours in the CTE subject area. Volunteer hours can only be used for the 300 hours of current industry experience. Please use this form for your non-teaching experience Form 4075V.

Standard Cte Certification Requirements

Evidence of appropriate major, minor, license, registry, apprenticeship or Michigan Occupational Competency Assessment Center completed in the requested CIP code field. This requirement must also match the work experience and is in addition to the required Workforce Education and Development course work. Official copies of all verifying documents must be on file at the university or in the certification office . Earning The Clear Designated Subjects Cte Credential
In order to clear the Preliminary Credential, CTE teachers participate in NCSOEs Designated Subjects CTE Credential Program. Each teaching credential has a unique set of standards that must be met in order to obtain the California Clear Credential. Upon completion of NCSOE’s Designated Subjects Program and any additional credential requirements, CTE teachers are eligible to apply for their Clear Credential.
