For those living in the Midwest and looking to start a new career, the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center is probably one of the places you want to start looking. Located in Cape, Girardeau, Missouri, a middle sized town of about 38,000 people, the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center has garnered a reputation for producing high quality graduates who know how to go out into the workforce and get jobs. Cape Girardeau is a great place to do it too, since the region has seen growth in between censuses and technical trade employment has been increasing throughout the city. The city is the site of many historical landmarks, many that have to do with Native Americans and their relationship with early American settlers of the land.

What high school are you from? I am a senior at Woodland High School.
What made you choose Auto Collision? I have always enjoyed working on cars and with my hands. I wanted to try this out to see if this is something I wanted to make a career out of.
What are your plans after high school? I want to go to Ranken Technical College or Mineral Area–depending on scholarship money.
What have you learned that has made a difference to you? I’ve learned you have to prioritize your time when working. Communicating with the customer, with your classmates, and with your boss is huge! You have to be able to analyze the work that has to be done and give the customer a date that you can have it finished by. You have to communicate with your classmates and let me know what you’ve done on that vehicle in case they have to pick up where you left off the next day. You also have to pay attention to the little details. It makes a big difference how it looks on the outside and everyone judges you by how the outside looks.
What advice do you have for a student considering to be a student at the CTC? Make sure you have all your other high school credits done because, if you don’t, you won’t be able to attend CTC. I know someone who slacked off their freshmen and sophomore year and wasn’t able to come here because of being behind credits.
What are your hobbies? working on cars, hunting, and fishing
