Choose The Right Career
Whether you’re just entering the workforce or you’re already established in your career, make sure you’ve chosen the right profession. Consider whether you can see yourself doing your job every day. Your job needs to line up with your personality, your interests and your values.
If you can’t determine whether you’ve chosen the right career, consider taking a self-assessment test that can match you to a career based on your answers to various questions. You can also consult with a career counselor or do your own extensive research regarding a particular occupation and its specific details including its duties, earnings and job outlook.
Always Raise Your Standards
Here’s another critical factor which differentiates the successful from the non-successful. Your standards influence the way you think, believe, and behave. If your standards are high, you’ll never be satisfied with less than you can accomplish. People with high standards are most of the times more successful than the average.
Every two or three months take a moment to reflect upon your standards and values. Try to improve them bit by bit up until you realize that you’ve become the best version of yourself.
Seek And Give Feedback
Feedback is a key component for continuous growth and improvement.
Feedback lets you know when and where you are making progress and where you need to make adjustments, corrections or resolve problems.
A good habit to practice is to proactively ask for feedback often so that you can use it to improve yourself.
Feedback offers a good opportunity to ask questions and extract in-depth observations that are candid and aimed at building up not tearing down.
When receiving feedback, remember to thank the person who took time to give you feedback. Also use the opportunity to probe a little and ask a few clarifying questions to get the maximum utility or usefulness from the feedback given.
Similar to how we appreciate receiving feedback from others, it is important to also reciprocate by giving others feedback.
Give feedback in a respectful manner. Identify the specific behaviors and how improvements can be made, not an attack on the person.
For feedback to be most effective it needs to be given in a timely manner.
Feedback loses its power and effectiveness when allowed to go stale i.e. when feedback is given after a significant period of time has elapsed between when the actions being discussed happened.
The risk of waiting too long to give feedback is that it negates the usefulness and relevance of the feedback, plus we are more receptive and able to learn and retain more immediately after a specific event or activity has occurred.

Tips For Career Success
Success can be glamorous but the process of succeeding is more about following a productive routine.
Do you want to be successful in your career? Most people will answer “yes” to this question, but few people actually take the time to consider what they need to do to become successful. They don’t even think about what they could be doing differently to actively improve their career.

The Keys To Being Fruitful At Work
What is career success? Well, it depends on who you ask. Each of us defines it differently. The one thing all of us have in common is that, given the amount of time we spend at work, we want to at least like what we’re doing every day. Life is either too long or too short to spend time in jobs we hate. We also want to be appreciated by our bosses and co-workers and not cave into job stress. Here are 11 tips that can help you get started on your way to having a successful and satisfying career.

Adopting A Less Is More Approach In Both Content And Design
Another long-standing best practice of resume writing is to make every word and ounce of space count. Its tempting to over-explain and add more details for fear of leaving something out. The risk of adding and adding is you start to water down worth or lessen the impact. Lengthy or heavily packed executive resumes may overwhelm the reader, making it harder for them to spot connections or ROI.
Take time to carefully curate and appraise resume content. What do you want to highlight as a core offering and value, and what can you get rid of? Be brutal, trimming irrelevant details and letting the more important points shine through.
In addition, dont try to dazzle with flashy design elements. Overdesign can distract from the content. Your resume should be professional and polished at the executive level, with clearly marked sections and an easy-to-scan format.
Yes, you can include some colour or strategic design components, but ensure the resume is easy to read, with lots of white space. Dont get bogged down in design.
Readability, scannability, whitespace, and eliminating unnecessary and distracting design elements are all a thing no matter your level. Diana Alt, Career Growth Strategist
New resume formats come and go, like infographic and digital resumes. But from a practical hiring standpoint, they often fail miserably and end up with you wasting lots of time on something that yields little, if any, results.Ron Auerbach, Career Coach

What Practices Should You Do To Achieve A Successful Career
Most of us know in our minds what needs to be done. However, the problem is that we lack the will and discipline to take action. So, if you want to enhance your career and establish success in the workplace, then you should do the following practices:
#1 Taking initiative. A company that wants to leverage and stand out in the middle of todays competitive industries wants individuals who are always willing to take the initiative. New ideas and insights are powerful weapons that can be used against competitors. You should be ready to be part of a project whether big or small and do your best to make it a success. You should not be afraid of taking risks. You must believe that trying can be the key to unlocking more amazing opportunities.
#2 Valuing time and people. Time and people are the most important resources of any business organization. They should be valued as they play the most vital part of the business to run efficiently. Time should not be wasted instead, they should be adequately utilized. Remember that we can no longer bring back a minute that we have lost. Be aware of the deadlines submit your works as early as possible. Your co-workers and employers play a significant role in your journey to achieve success. Value them, respect their time, and be courteous when dealing with them. Build camaraderie with them within the organization so a harmonious relationship will be developed.

They Pay Attention To Body Language
Because 93% of what we say has nothing to do with our words. To look like a leader when you speak, stand up to speak if possible, with feet comfortably apart, shoulders back, chin up, and expansive arms, so that your body language adds credibility to your message, says Miller. It works when seated, too sitting up straight with arms out increases the space you take up, which is a demonstration of power.
Telling A Distinct Story On Each Application
At the executive level, youre not applying for jobs in bulk. Instead, you are focusing on a specific role in a specific company, so you must tailor the resume to each application.
Think about the details of the leadership position you are vying for and the audience you are addressing. Tell your story in a way the target audience wants to hear it, highlighting what makes you the right fit for their unique business and requirements.
Its about telling the right stories with aligned language and context to show qualification, relevance, and ability to step in and deliver value quickly.

Ways To Have A More Successful Career
Everyone has two natures. One wants us to advance, the other wants us to pull back. The one we cultivate and decide upon determines whom we become.
Luckily, with the right kind of training, every individual could be a success. Though, its not in your best interest to wait and expect others to assist you on the road there.
Rather, achievement and career advancement is the culmination of gaining self will power, setting firm resolutions and making a commitment to conquer your weakness and bad habits.
If success is truly something of interest, our recruitment professionals have laid out 10 easy theories to implement in order to have a more lucrative, productive and fulfilling career.
1. The secret of success is to try to always improve yourself no matter where you are or what your position is. Learn all you can. In business, miracles do not simply happen.
Rather, success is the culmination of excessive learning and leveraging that knowledge to set firm goals then seeing those proposed accomplishments through to the end.
2.Think in terms of solutions rather than focusing on problems. Simply because we cant see a solution at a given moment does not mean its not there.
Use your subconscious voice in order to gain answers and expand your horizon instead of listening to the inner voice that says a particular goal cant be achieved.
People with a strong sense of self-worth tell themselves that they can handle anything including hurdles that arise in pursuit of their core goals.
Reflect On Your Achievements
While it’s important to have a good support system, you also need to root for your own success. Consider your previous accomplishments. Instead of waiting for someone to congratulate you on your successes, recognize them yourself and take pride in all you’ve accomplished so far in your career. Doing this can help motivate you to achieve your next accomplishment or goal.

Three Best Practices For Career Success
A few years ago, I started noticing a trend in my recruiting searches. If a candidates online profile did not match the details outlined in their resume, they were less likely to be viewed as a top contender. Gone are the days when professionals could choose whether to participate on social media platforms or put up one-and-done social media profiles. A recent Harris Poll conducted on behalf of CareerBuilder found that 57% of companies are less likely to interview a candidate they cant find online. More than 70% use social media to screen candidates.
The successful candidate will be the professional who implements the following best practices for digital branding.
1. Be immediately available.
More than 60% of people expect brands to provide consumers with information they need when they need it, according to Google. Hiring managers are no different. As the candidate, you are the brand. Failing to establish a presence on social media leaves the impression that you have something to hide or nothing to show. Optimizing your online profile is all about differentiating yourself and increasing your credibility. Without the right digital identity, its tough to establish trust with a future employer.
2. Be immediately relevant.
3. Be immediately transparent.
The World Economic Forum report shared that several soft skills will be in high demand by 2022. Companies will be looking to hire employees who will ideate, create and innovate.
They Look Cool Calm And Collected
When youre angling for a raise, in the running for a promotion, or just flat-out trying to impress, theres no doubt your superiors will look at how you handle your workload . So when youre crashing on a deadline or tackling a new assignment, its important to handle stress in style, with the appearance of an unshakeable, I got this attitude.

Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Although it might be scary to take on a big project, go on a business trip or give a presentation, you should always strive to step out of your comfort zone. Once you get comfortable in a position, you stop advancing, and you stop pushing boundaries. One way around this is to regularly volunteer to do tasks that you usually wouldnt. Not only will you feel good about what youve accomplished, but also more confident promise!
They Constantly Think About Their Careers
Upwardly mobile people dont let a couple of years go by without really thinking about moving upwhere their career is headed is regularly on their mind. Every year or two, spend some time really thinking about your career, says career coach Christie Mims. Go out and warm up your network, check out new opportunities, and do some salary comparisons. You make smarter career decisions when you have real data.

How Much Horsepower Do You Bring To Work
In the wonderful world of cars, one fascinating fact of distinguishing the performance of one car from another is its horsepower.
A typical and common selling point includes loudly proclaimed features such as a car which can go from 0-60 mph within the shortest amount of time.
Conversely in your job, how much Horsepower do you bring to work? How much work can you do compared to others in similar roles as yourself?
What is the industry average for peak performance in your role? What was your average work output one year ago as compared to your output now? Is your productivity increasing or decreasing?
Strive towards becoming a topmost performer in your team who not only produces fast work results but also does it accurately and error-free to the greatest extent possible.
- How much work output can you do compared to others in similar roles as yourself?
- What was your average productivity one year ago? Is your output increasing or decreasing?
- Aim to become a top performer in your team. One who produces fast and accurate results.
Encourage Mentoring And Job Shadowing
Establishing a formal mentoring program might be one of the smartest moves a company can make at any time for itself as well as for its workers personal and professional growth. Mentoring can also be an effective tool for onboarding remote staff.
Though often seen as a transfer of knowledge from tenured team members to less-seasoned employees, mentoring in the workplace is a two-way street. While senior staff members can offer hard-earned insights and professional guidance to less-experienced colleagues, they also can benefit from the fresh perspectives and technological know-how of up-and-coming employees.

The Best Way To Achieve The Career Success You Want
I had to define career success for myself. I had to put my big pants on and own my career. I was scared as hell. I still am sometimes, but this is what it takes.
They told you that if you just figured out what you love to do, you would eventually be able to build a successful career around it. They told you that if you wanted a successful career, you had to find your purpose and focus on your natural talents. They told you that if you just worked hard enough for your company, you would eventually be happily rewarded. They told you that if you quit your job and started your own business, you would achieve more success. They lied.
I am not asserting that people are going around intentionally lying about how to achieve career success. I am saying that all kinds of people have shared with me that the ways they are being told to achieve career success arent producing it. They say they are doing all the right things, and they remain unfulfilled in their careers. They describe being completely disengaged and even miserable.
Define career success for yourself.
First, you have to take the time to define success for yourself. You will never find career success chasing a dream or plan that someone else outlined for you. You wont find it trying to align yourself with societal standards that you never even created.
